If you want to do something...DO IT!
Don't let your past define you--it is gone.
Refuse to be labeled, you don't exist here for that.
No one is "just a student" or "just a housewife" or
just a person who does whatever people say.
Nobody is "just an" anything.
You can do almost anything, you merely have to begin.
Step outside, see where it leads you.
No one said it was easy, but it isn't impossible either.
Take the first step, you might be astonished how far you can go.
If you want to travel, do it.
If you want to be the person you see in the movies doing something amazing then
BECOME that person. Don't be afraid to take a risk. I wanted to be that person.
It didn't happen overnight. I took classes, learned Japanese. I cut back on all my expenses and I asked myself, "If I buy this will it affect my ability to go to Japan?" and if the answer was "Yes!" then I walked away from it. It took two years. I became that person in the photograph who walked in the rain on Gion Street in Kyoto, Japan.
Embrace it. Step out of your comfort zone. Stop saying to yourself, "If I was younger or older..." or "if only I was smarter or prettier..." or "if only I was richer, I would be a better more creative person" no, it is not true. These are all just labels other people throw out there and you begin to believe all that and it defines you. Just go and do it--BEGIN something NEW. Don't be afraid to take chances, don't worry what other people think, this is YOUR LIFE. Begin taking classes in the college or go back. If it is too expensive, look for less expensive ones in your community. They are often not only cheaper, but smaller classes and often a lot more valuable.
If you spend masses of time watching "Chopped" and think it would be fun to learn to cook then begin to cook. Be inspired by what you enjoy seeing. It isn't like you have to make something over the top or ambitious.
Choose something fun to make and MAKE IT! Invite your friends over while you are doing it. Follow the recipe, make the food, RELAX. Just have fun with it. They are your FRIENDS! Embrace what you want to do. There really aren't limits on what to learn and enjoy.
You might just find you are really good at this and they love it!
Not everything we try works out and that is okay too, you know. All of us fail, but when we fail we learn. So let it go. You can say to yourself, "Well, at least I tried!" and then you get up and dust yourself off can try again or walk away and try something new.
No one says you have to be perfect. Perfection is overrated. Conventionalism is a bore. If you want to dance in a crowd then do it. Don't let what other people think lesson your joy in simple things.
If you want to lift your face to the sky or twirl in the snow, go ahead. DO IT. Be the person laughing in the snow. Dance on the beach. Sing in the rain. These things are free and lift your spirits.
If you want to lead, then LEAD. Step up, throw the dice and roll. Start a club, design something and brings others in with you. Be different. Don't be afraid to stand out in a crowd. Be the person dancing to the music in the mall. And if you see someone doing something that you think is fun, join them. Follow. What does it matter except to YOU? Unless you are breaking the law then it does not matter. The people around you can join you or leave.
Whatever you decide you want to do, then do it and embrace it with all your heart. No one can limit your passion. Whether you decide that maybe what you want to do next is learn an ancient language
or a craft, to read, or to travel it is all good, it works, because THIS is who you are. Think of what you can become if you have the courage and the strength to just try. You can study it is as long as you want to do so, you can do as many things as you want to do.
When you finish one thing or even if you are not, you can try something new. Learn to make books from things around you, study art, take photographs, walk and see things you never noticed before, begin to write. It doesn't have to cost money. See if any of your friends want to go or do it with you, and if they do great! And if they don't--fine. There will be new friends on this path with you. People who belittle you or what you try to do are not your friends.
If you like Star Trek--great! Learn all you can about it. Study Klingonese, read about it, design a costume, go to a con and WEAR IT THERE. Believe me there will be 3,000 to 10,000 other people doing it too!
Absolutely refuse to be labeled in any way and don't label yourself. Be comfortable with you! Take the first step and if you fall GET BACK UP! All of us fell as babies, we got up. If you are sick, and you can't get up, then you can still learn new things, embrace new concepts and ideas and be creative. Read, crochet, learn to hook rugs then design new ones. Play Animal Crossing and see if you can fill the entire museum.
Try not to be angry with people who have screwed you over and situations you can't change. Screw that. Forgive them, forget them and move on. Make your reality your own and not some shadow filled with rage over someone who doesn't deserve one second of your energy. This is YOUR LIFE, let them define their own by themselves. Don't keep playing their game. It is difficult to walk away, but in the end what did you give up? Nothing but negative emotion and energy that you can use for you! Leave them behind.
Look outside your own door, see the clouds, the sun, the moon. Feel the wind on your face, watch the leaves falling. Observe the patterns of the stars in the night sky. ALL of these things are FREE. See yourself as you really are--someone with ideas, goals and dreams--and then go find them!
